The artistic Journey

Originally from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and currently based in Mumbai, the artist has been actively practicing and contributing to the contemporary art scene for over a decade. Their artistic journey began with formal training in Fine Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in 2007 and a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in 2009, specializing in Painting from the prestigious Gwalior College of Art.

Following their academic pursuits, the artist spent five formative years at the renowned Bharat Bhavan Graphics Studio, Bhopal, where they explored a diverse range of artistic disciplines and techniques. This period played a pivotal role in shaping their artistic vision and practice. Their experimentation extended across various mediums, including printmaking, ceramics, charcoal, ink, soft pastels, acrylics, and mixed media, enabling them to develop a versatile and distinctive artistic language.

Throughout their career, the artist has had the privilege of working alongside and learning from several eminent artists, including Yusuf Sir, Anil Sir, Patidar Sir, Vivek Sir, and many others. Their dedication and contribution to the arts have been recognized through prestigious accolades, including a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as well as a notable National-Level Award for artistic excellence.

For Seema, painting serves as a powerful medium for expressing inner emotions, thoughts, and experiences, transforming them into dynamic forms, colors, and visual narratives. Their work reflects a deeply personal interpretation of the world, shaped by time, observation, and lived experiences.

Drawing inspiration from nature, the artist develops unique forms that are not direct representations of the natural world but rather personal abstractions influenced by its energy, movement, and vitality. The fluidity of lines, evolving shapes, and expressive compositions emerge from an intuitive creative process, revealing the artist's perception of life and the environment around them.

Particularly fascinated by movement and organic growth, the artist finds inspiration in even the smallest elements of nature. The subtle motions and rhythms found in living organisms spark endless possibilities for artistic exploration. Through their work, they seek to bring the essence of the natural world indoors, encouraging viewers to reconnect with nature and appreciate beauty in unexpected places.

Working across multiple mediums—including watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, ink, and pastel—the artist continuously experiments with new materials and techniques, embracing innovation as an essential part of their creative journey.
